Acne blackouts can be a real headache especially when you are spending countless of dollars on gels and creams that promise to help your skin. Although, using these methods can be a total waste of time and money, there some ways that can help you prevent acne that won’t require you to dig dip into your pocket. They include;
1. Use the right makeup
The type of makeup you use has a huge impact on the health of your skin. You might spending a lot of money trying to make your skin look nice yet you could be clogging the your skin pores which encourages pimples that your trying to hide.
If your skin is vulnerable to acne, look for products labeled “non- comedogemic”, which means that the makeup does clog your skin pores, a major cause of acne. Also avoid beauty products that are heavy and greasy, containing ingredients like cocoa butter and minerals oils that spur acne.
2. Wash your face
Washing your face twice a day with warm water; once in the morning and once at night, can significantly help open up pores preventing formation of pimple. Make sure that the water is warm, but not too hot to burn your skin. Gently wash your skin to open up the clogged pores that cause pimples. It is also important that you wash your hands before washing your face to prevent dirty found on your hands from clogging your skin pores.
3. Moisturizing your face
Immediately after washing your face, remember to moisturize it. Washing your skin strips your skin both its oils and moisture, which if they are not removed they can cause pimples. But doing this also leaves your skin exposed; therefore you need to replenish its moisture by immediately moisturizing it with skin friendly moisturizer.
4. Avoid acne-causing foods
Some foods can alter your blood sugar level, triggering an insulin boost in your body. Too much insulin leads to growth of pore clogging cell which in turn block the skin pores, increasing the risk of acne. Avoid acne causing foods at all cost if you want to prevent future acne occurrence. They include chocolate, spicy foods, cheese, nuts etc.
5. Avoid over exfoliate
Exfoliating can help prevent future occurrence of acne if it’s done in correct amounts. When you exfoliate your skin, you gently wipe of the outer layer of your skin to help unclog and slough off dead skin. This should however be done correctly, preferable only once a week and using a good exfoliating product.
6. Stay out of direct sunlight
Exposing your skin directly to the sunlight can harm your skin. Apart from increasing the risk of skin cancer, it can accelerate acne. Make sure that you wear non-comedogenic sunscreen when you are going out if you suspect you are going to be out for long hours. This sunscreen will prevent skin pores from clogging while protecting you from direct sunlight which causes acne.
7. Avoid touching your face
Your hands can be a breeding ground for bacteria because you touch a lot of things with them. Therefore, avoid touching your face so that you can minimize bacteria transmission, thereby lowering the risk of developing nasty acne.
