2. Swelling of the lips and face
Similar to itching, swelling of the lips and face are initial signs of more dangerous conditions. Throat and tongue may begin to swell shortly leading to respiration problems. In this condition, the allergic reactions are considered medical emergency requiring immediate treatment.
3. Anaphylactic shock
Anaphylactic shock may include various symptoms including loss of consciousness, rapid drop of blood pressure levels, and change of skin color. Swelling of the throat is actually considered anaphylactic shock as well. Another possibility is numbness especially in extremities such as hands and feet. The swelling of the throat also makes it difficult for patients to swallow or consume any medication orally. For this reason, anaphylactic shock is often treated by using epinephrine injection.
4. Vomiting and diarrhea
Allergic reactions to almond oil may also trigger gastrointestinal problems such as cramping, diarrhea, and vomiting. However, if you experience one of those problems after consuming almond oil, you may need to consult doctor to figure out whether the problems are indeed caused by the oil. Unless more severe symptoms also develop, further tests are required to determine the exact causes of the conditions.
5. Sneezing and cough
Besides skin conditions and gastrointestinal problem, people who are allergic to almond oil possibly experience some respiratory symptoms also. In mild cases, the symptoms include nasal congestion, watery eyes, and itchy. In more severe cases, the allergic reactions can include runny nose, cough, sneezing, and even asthma symptoms. Such respiratory problems can cause breathing difficulties. If breathing is painful after consuming almond oil, you should immediately call for medical assistance.
